When life gives you clay, animate it!
DymkovoDiaries is now back on Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/dymkovodiaries/
Old episodes from Season 1 are being rereleased weekly in the lead up to Season 2, which will start in June!
I am so excited to bring back the DymkovoDiaries bunch for new adventures and to help immerse you into a world of beauty, silliness, and bright color which we all need in times like these.
I originally paused the production of DymkovoDiaries and my storefront due to needing to tend to health concerns and big life changes. However, I'm ready to hit the ground running. My life has changed a lot over the past several months including becoming somewhat of a foster parent, and caring for my partner who got into a horrific car accident before the holidays. But with these challenges have come a lot of introspection and growth.
The recent changes in my life have changed everything in my routine and perspective of the world, but with that it's also become so clear to me how important and vital art is for my life and for the lives of those around me. I am learning how to juggle family life, (hopefully) getting a full time job, and navigating getting another degree in Health Systems Management, but art has always and will always be the core of me and everything I do. I surround myself with art. I spend most of my free time creating something- paintings, crocheting, embroidering, sculpting, drawing, gardening, cooking- etc. That is who I am.
I began DymkovoDiaries after a traumatic event that caused me to have a long recovery process in which I needed hope and pure joy. It morphed over time to also include my interest in activism and my passionate support for Ukraine. But as time goes on and my life has become more complicated but rewarding in so many ways, the original values of DymkovoDiaries still stand central. These critters (because alas, stop-motion DOES bring their spirits to life!) are here to bring smiles, laughter, healthy escapism, and to inspire creativity and awareness. I chose to take something from my origins (Dymkovo toys from Kirov Oblast, Russia), make my own creative spin on the traditional folkcraft, and give them purpose to spread awareness of what's happening in Ukraine as well as to make others happy even in the face of darkness.
With that being said, I hope that you are looking forward to the return of DymkovoDiaries as much as I am!
My shop is still offline but hopefully by June it will be fully stocked and up and running. I'll make more updates about that in the future.
Much love,
Anastasia S. Razumova
