In The Midst Of Chaos

Very long time no write, my friends.

To be honest, I have outlined several blog posts but I have posted none of them so far due to feeling like they weren't up to the standard that I want to publish here. However, I feel like it is time to say something at least.

I am in good health as is my family and most of my friends which I am greatly thankful for. My mental stability has been wavering of course but I'm doing as well as I can right now. Crocheting has been a big help in that matter and I have devoted a lot of time to that.

My art is changing. After I went on vacation to Italy in 2019 (I think I will write an extensive blog post about that adventure) I have been inspired to put more effort and detail into my work. This takes up a lot more time and planning than with my past artwork, so I will be updating my portfolio less but it will contain much greater pieces.

I am so excited for this new era of my art! I have been wanting to explore styles and formatting used in Medieval and Byzantine paintings and mosaics and incorporate them into the subjects of my own paintings. I feel like I am finally at a place where I can achieve artwork that I used to dream of making. Of course there is always room for improvement and I have a lot to practice and learn but I am ready to go forth and do my best.

I most likely will make portraiture and macabre art like I used to, but I think it would benefit my artistic growth to branch out and try something slightly different.

I mentioned in a recent post that I felt like I truly became an artist in 2019. As I've settled into that realization I am becoming more serious about my craft and what I want to represent. I look forward to sharing my journey with you.

I hope you are doing well in these tough times. Stay safe and healthy.
